about

This is an experimental all-vocals song I wrote and recorded in Washington DC during the Madhouse days. This is the only recording that exists of this. It was my first real foray into the kinds of music I would do in Faith and the Muse, in pieces such as "Iago's Demise" and "Chorus of the Furies"...

Listening to this so many years later, I love the build-up of harmonies as it continues. Enjoy!

lyrics

WINDOWS (1986)

Hiding inside your pain of glass...

I look at you through my friends' eyes
And see a House with 100 Windows
Each pane of glass is your canvas
In which you paint a separate image of yourself

Each different window is a separate picture
For each separate person to see

Windows open, Windows broken
Windows painted, Windows faded
Windows frozen, Windows broken
Windows...

Why is it only me that sees the real you
A crouched, broken figure hiding inside
Praying your windows won't break
